Baltimore Think-A-Thon

Westminster Hall, 519 W. Fayette Street Baltimore, MD 21201
Thursday, May 29, 2014 - 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

The College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Maryland, College Park, in partnership with the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance, will stage a one-day “Think-a-Thon,” on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Westminster Hall in Baltimore.  Last year's Think-A-Thon had both short term and long term effects, so let's build on last year's success and start new conversations. This is a one day collaboration of invited humanists, artists, medical professionals, researchers, social activists, scientists, foundations and area political representatives. The purpose of the Think-a-thon is to identify challenges presented by the current and past conditions in Baltimore and, this year, to brainstorm about how arts and culture can address them. We believe strongly in the ability of the arts and humanities to take on the challenges of the city and help move toward solutions.  The combination of creative thinkers and practitioners presents a powerful tool for problem solving. As in our first Think-A-Thon, we expect that the ideas generated will result in a number of nascent grant/action research ideas which will serve as bases for further collaborations.
