ARHU Fellowship Workshop - Part I

Thursday, July 24, 2014 - 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM

With several fellowship deadlines in very early fall (NEH Summer Stipend, ACLS, Guggenheim), we are hosting a 2-part Fellowship Workshop Series during the summer months.* This workshop is designed to:

a.       provide information on some of the most relevant and prestigious fellowship opportunities in the arts and humanities,

b.       connect you to colleagues who are also considering applying,

c.        equip you with guidance on how to shape your fellowship proposal, and

d.       provide you with writing samples and advice from those who have been successful in previous cycles.

In the first of the 2-part series (July 24, 2014, 12-1:30pm, 1102J Francis Scott Key), we will look at fellowship announcements, hear from awardees, share successful examples, and work together to develop your proposal ideas and plans for securing letters of recommendation.  In the month between the first and second workshop, you will have an opportunity to draft your proposal, equipped with written guidance and samples. In the second of the series (August 19, 2014, 12-1:30pm, 1102J Francis Scott Key), you will have an opportunity to troubleshoot questions that emerged during your drafting process and ask for guidance on / review of your proposal from colleagues and presenters. Please RSVP (ckenned3@umd.edu) for either/both dates – lunch will be provided.

*Because we know that summer is a time of travel and other obligations, all materials will be made available to interested faculty who are unable to attend. And as always, please feel free to contact us directly with any questions or for further support.
