Story Exchange on You and the Environment

Lobby, Physical Sciences Complex
Wednesday, April 15, 2015 - 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM

What story would you tell about you and the environment?  Terry Tempest Williams and members of Narrative4 will lead an environmentally themed story exchange at the University of Maryland.  Williams is program chairwoman for Narrative4 (N4), a non-profit that fosters “fearless hope through radical empathy” by breaking down barriers and shattering stereotypes through the exchange of stories.

Led by globally influential artists, educators, students and community advocates, N4 is developing the next generation of empathetic leaders and citizens. They facilitate story exchanges all over the world and, with their guidance, participants will be paired to share stories that in some way define them. In the end, the group gathers and each partner is responsible for retelling the other’s story in the first person.

In keeping with the topic of Williams’ WORLDWISE: Arts and Humanities Dean’s Lecture the following day, the story exchange will invite UMD participants and student-leaders from the Baltimore-based The Intersection program to share personal stories about nature, the environment and recognitions of power and (in)justice.

REGISTER FOR THE STORY EXCHANGE (The event is free. We simply need a little information from you)
