Foxworth Proposal Deadline

Friday, May 29, 2015 - 11:45 PM

The Foxworth Creative Enterprise Initiative funded by Domonique and Ashley Foxworth will provide support for the development of courses that commit to practices of civic engagement and pedagogical work with underrepresented communities. The initiative awards three curriculum development grants. Successful applicants will receive $6,000 salary stipend to support the development of their course.

The Foxworth Initiative also provides administrative support for the development of undergraduate courses that exhibit a commitment to using one or more fields in the arts and humanities to address a social issue or problem that affects an underrepresented community on the Maryland campus, or in the wider Washington Metropolitan area. The initiative fosters a faculty-led, team based approach, in which faculty will work collaboratively with students to pursue curriculum initiatives that center an applied approach to social change and transformation. Depending on the nature of the course, classes can be as small as having 5-8 students.

The initiative will consider ability, class, ethnicity, gender, geography, race and sexuality in its understanding of “underrepresented categories.”  For this grant cycle, applicants are encourage to address issues that focus on, but are certainly not limited to, children, youth and educational achievement. The initiative is open to all ARHU tenured and tenure track faculty.
