AADHum Conversation Series: Libraries: Justice, Technology and Culture

Please join us for the first installment of African American History, Culture and Digital Humanities' (AADHum) Conversation Series that brings established scholars in African American history and culture into dialogue with emerging leaders in Black Digital Studies.

Our first conversation features scholars and practitioners with extensive knowledge and scholarship on the theme “Libraries: Justice, Technology, and Culture,” including:

  • Tahira Akbar-Williams, Education and African American Studies Librarian at University of Maryland 
  • Dr. Nicole Cooke, Assistant Professor at the School of Information Sciences at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign 
  • Dr. Howard Dodson, former Director of the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center and Howard University Libraries, and formerly the long-time director of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture 
  • Trevor Muñoz, Interim Director of the Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities and Assistant Dean for Digital Humanities Research at the University of Maryland Libraries 

The conversation will be held in the UMD Lucille Maurer Library, 1126 Taliaferro Hall, 4280 Chapel Lane, College Park, MD 20742.
